What’s the scoop on Alyice Edrich?
The short answer, err sales pitch: Alyice Edrich is a work-at-home mom with an award winning online magazine known as The Dabbling Mum®. It’s free to BUSY parents looking for inside tips on running a home business, freelance writing, and parenting and can be located at http://thedabblingmum.com. She’s also a highly praised e-book author with more than ten e-books under her belt, including one on writing e-books for a living which can be located here: http://thedabblingmumpress.com. Finally, she’s a freelance writer for hire who loves getting paid to craft the written word. Visit her resume site at http://alyiceedrich.net
The long answer, err more personal response: Although I’ve worked out of the home a number of times before settling into home business mode, I must admit that I much prefer working from home because it allows me true flexibility. I don’t have to worry about losing my job because my kids require my attention (i.e. sick days, school events, award ceremonies, etc) and I simply refuse to go to work. (Okay, so I never really “refused” to go to work but you get the idea…) I don’t have to worry about coordinating my vacation days with my husband’s work schedule, either. And it’s really nice to know that my clients get my full attention when I’m working on their project because I don’t have the guilt associated with knowing I could be home with my kiddos instead of being miles away working in a stuffy office.
But if I’m going to be one hundred percent honest with you, I must admit that what I like most about working from home is that I can choose my hours, my workload, and pretty much my paycheck. The harder, more efficient I work, the more money I make. The less I work, the less money I make. I can work part-time, full-time, or somewhere in between and the only person I have to answer to is me. (Well, that’s a lie. I still have to answer to my clients and my husband’s pretty adamant about me making sure I don’t overload myself.) There’s no boss demanding me to put in more hours, or scrutinizing my every move and I like it that way.
Aside from working, I enjoy spending time with my kids—who just so happen to be growing up way to fast!—and my husband. They are my true reasons for living and I feel very blessed to have them in my life. And when I’m not working or hanging out with the family I like to get a little creative. I crochet, paint recycled jars and bottles, practice making mixed media art pieces, scrapbook, tend to my garden, practice my photography skills, and try my hand at making up new recipes. I thought your name sounded familiar. You gave my children's book a very nice review a few years back. Thank you. It's still selling.
