Tribal Tattoo have been around for ever as they draw on the designs and symbolism of many ancient cultures such as the Maori or Hawaiians. Probably the most famous tattoo designer of all time at least in the West is Sailor Jerry. He worked out of a tattoo shop in Hawaii creating beautiful and bold tattoo designs for sailors. He is considered by many to be the father of modern tattooing. There are many old sailor style tattoos that have also be restyled and reworked to fit in more modern times. These often have a very edgy and bold feel to them and with bright colors make a wonderful choice for a new school styled tattoo. There are the nautical stars, pin up girls and even swallow tattoos. These are great designs with a ton of history and wonderfully rich and deep symbolism behind them. Classic tattoo designs like sailor tattoo never go out of style and in the last few years have really made a come back.
