We are a wholly owned subsidiary of a privately owned company Alpexus Ltd, a web marketing company formed in 2004.

What is the company's background?

Initially Alpexus Ltd helped charities sell items on eBay but like any good company its services evolved by listening to and continuing to listen to, its clients' needs.

The WhiteDotBox service has evolved into helping any 3rd sector organisation or fundraising organisation to fundraise online. For further information on the company background see the relevant section of the web site.

Via our relationship with yahoo.com the internationally recognised search engine, and agreements with a number of other well known internet services such as eBay, we enable fundraising organisations to obtain a share of the advertising revenue generated when these services are used via our agreements

What does your organisation hope to achieve for its Clients?

At the heart of our corporate strategy is our commitment to assisting organisations and individuals take advantage of the many opportunities the internet brings to online fundraising and to assist them in the achievement of their fundraising goals.

Through a thorough understanding of the goals and objectives of our clients online fundraising activities we will, in partnership, develop relevant and dedicated internet services that fully support our clients objectives.

The dedicated services we develop will fully recognise the importance of our client's relationship with their supporter base and we will not seek to impose ourselves on this relationship, in fact our brand or name will not appear anywhere and our services will be presented as your own.

How does everyone make money from all this?

The major search engine providers receive advertising revenue from many of the companies featured in their search results. We have partnered with yahoo.com who are rewarding loyalty of use by giving a major portion of this advertising revenue to us if the search has been made via our services. We in turn share this revenue 50:50 with our clients, and by aggregating all of our clients search traffic through our infrastructure we are able to negotiate higher levels of revenue share with yahoo.com.

Our clients can then continue to use the search facility precisely as they did before, only now it generates revenue. The search results you will receive are precisely the same as they would be if the search engine were accessed through any other route.

Throughout the process we operate an open and transparent policy with the revenue information from Ask.

How does WhiteDotBox make money?

By aggregating all our Clients searches through our services we are able to negotiate a high revenue share with our search engine partner.

We then share this payment 50:50 with you the Client.

How much money can we raise?

How much money we receive basically depends upon how often the service is used. We will provide you with all the necessary support and marketing materials to help promote the service.

Based upon our experience to date we estimate that the average supporter regularly searching the internet could readily raise for you in excess of £30 per annum.

How and when will I be paid?

You will be paid by BACS transfer, every 30 days, 45 days after a month end.

e.g. Revenue for the month of June will be paid after 45 days on August 15th. Revenue for the month of July will be paid after 45 days on September 15th

How do I know how much I am earning?

The whole reporting process is built upon transparency and you have full access to your own results via your own Partner Control Panel (PCP) which is a password protected area.

Via your PCP you have real time access to the volume of searches being performed and details of the resulting revenue earned.

Due to the timing of the reporting from our search engine partner, the number of searches are reported in real time and the resulting revenue earned is reported up to the end of the previous day.

Yahoo.com have a 45 day "audit period" from calendar month end to check and adjust for any non bona fide searches that are not in accordance with their terms and conditions and policies.

Due to this "audit period" the number of searches and the revenue reported are initially an estimate. Final payments made by Yahoo.com after 45 days will vary from the initial estimates and will be made on the basis of final records and not on the basis of the initial estimates. The revenue earned is continuously being processed and updated and we advise you to check such records regularly.

I already use another search engine - are your results as good as those from say Google or Ask?

Choice of search engine is clearly a subjective issue, but we believe that asks updated service is extremely strong. Please bear in mind that if you use the yahoo search box to access another search engine (Google etc) you will be able to view the results, but no revenue will be generated!

So should I change how I search the internet?

No! Apart from anything else, the beauty of our service is that you are encouraging people to do precisely what they already do - search the internet - but through your search box.

We and yahoo.com, like the other search engine providers, are commited to ensuring that the programme is not misused and has appropriate terms and conditions to guard against this. Misuse of the programme includes spam or fraudulent clicks resulting from, for example, repeated manual clicking or the use of 'robots', automated clicking tools, or other deceptive software and yahoo.com employs many sophisticated tools to detect inappropriate usage.

The key point and advantage of this service is that we are not asking you to change the pattern or nature of your searching but merely to change to this search box and to continue to use the search facility in just the same way as you did before, only now it can generate revenue for you.

Similarly, the search results you will receive are precisely the same as they would be if the search engine were accessed through any other route.

Will it cost me to market the services and earn these "free" funds?

The methods of promoting and communicating the service already exist between you and your supporters or employees. eg. Newsletters, e-mails, printed flyers, etc.

Given the cost effective nature of promoting the service and the potential returns you therefore have a real opportunity in which to actively promote your service and earn more revenue as compared to more traditional fundraising activities.

I've signed up to this great idea - but what do I do now?

The most effective route is to allow your supporters, employees, etc to get easy access to the search box in a location where they are already accessing the internet, and to then encourage them to undertake searches just as they normally do, but via this box. This location may be your existing web site, or one that we can create for you. Alternatively, or additionally, we can make code available to allow them to set up their own search box in a location of their own choice.

You should consider the following:

- If you or your supporters have a "high traffic" well known existing website that people regularly use then adding a search box is highly effective.

- If you or your supporters have an intranet site that staff or external partners often use then again a search box is very relevant.

- If you have internal users who just want to access the internet without any other internal requirements then our simple single page search facility set as the homepage on all computers will help maximise revenue.

- Clearly for many the most applicable option is having a free web site that can be easily updated with relevant news for supporters as well as containing a search box.
