Health Benefits of Eating Apples

Updated on October 21, 2011

Apples To Your Health

Eating apples have a bigger health advantage than you may realize. Apples are an excellent source for fiber, and they have flavonoids.

Apples have a multitude of health benefits. Before listing the many benefits. Let’s begin with a true story example; I use to eat apples everyday at work I would eat one mid morning, and I would have another apple in the evening at home as a snack. Two things I never had a problem with elimination or high cholesterol. Now I rarely eat an apple and I have problems with both this is not totally due to not eating, but a contributor of not eating fresh fruit and vegetables.

In recent reports apples have been listed as helping to prevent high cholesterol and its ability to lower cholesterol. Aside from the benefits to scrub the intestines and aid in elimination. Apples are also an cancer prevention food. Apples can help in preventing; Breast Cancer, Colon Cancer, and Liver Cancer.

Apples are also benenifual in helping children with asthma.  Children who eat apples or drank apple juice had fewer asthma attacks versus children who did not eat apples or drink apple juice.

Women can benefit by the nutritional value of apples in many ways.  Women who are post-menopausal can benefit by eating apples they have the ability to help increase bone density.   Apples

In a focus group study of pregnant women, women were divided into two groups, the first group did not include a diet of apples, and the second group of pregnant women eat 1 – 2 apples every day. In the conclusion of the study it was discovered that women who ate the apples had a lower risk of giving birth to a child who would not develop asthma versus the group who did not eat the apples.

Apples also are an excellent antioxidant, and they have pectin which supply galacturonic acid in the body which gives apples the ability to lower your body’s need to use insulin. This can benefit the body by helping to prevent diabetes.

One interesting fact about apples is that there are nearly 8,000 variations of apples, and I think that’s pretty cool!

Juicing Your Apples

Do not like chomping on apples, have you thought about juicing your apples. Juicing is a great way to go, and delicious. A fresh cup of juiced apples is a good deal plus you can make a smoothie by adding strawberries, bannans, or blueberries. The sky is the limit when it comes to making home made smoothies. Your children will take it quickly the sweet cold taste is refreshing, and you will still reap the rewards of getting your nutrients.

When you juice it really is okay to juice the core and all even the seeds. Having apples as part of your daily is very benefitual since the beginning of starting this hub I have re-adapted to eating my apples everyday.

My past experience with juicing was positive, and I have own several juicing machines. Personally I would recommend the Jack Lalanne juicer due to he knows the world of juicing inside out.

Apple Gift Baskets

Have a friend whose birthday is coming up? Give a gift of health by giving a healthy gift basket with fruits and nuts. Another great ideal is to put a small bottle of apple bubble bath, or apple scented handcream. A nice warm bath is a nice way to unwind from a stressful day, with the air filled fragrance of apples it will melt your stress away.

Giving gift baskets have always been a delight for me especially at holiday time, and for my friends birthdays.
