AD&D Classes: Dust-Upon-Leaf
Compatable with all editions, and other RPGs (if you tweak it) originally plotted for 2nd edition D&D. This is an original class created by Earl S. Wynn that has been officially game tested.
An elite order of warriors trained in the use of short blades and the shadowy ways of political intrigue, Dust-Upon-Leaf are often assigned to shadow specific Elven dignitaries (like dust upon leaves, as the name suggests) VIPs or other individuals of importance. They are the unseen guardians of the Elven elite and powerful, and they serve as invaluable assistants, competent translators, and bodyguards of unmatched skill and grace.
Restrictions and Requisites:
Only Elves may be trained as Dust-Upon-Leaf.
Prime Requisites: DEX, WIS
Equipment Restrictions: Nothing heavier than Chain
Weapon Restrictions: Short blades (knives and daggers) only
Hit Dice: 1d8
Class Specifics:
Starting at 2nd level, Dust-Upon-Leaf may learn one level 1 cleric spell per level. They may learn higher levels, but must undergo specific training with a high-level Cleric to be granted access to those levels. Once a Dust-Upon-Leaf has been granted the ability to learn spells of a certain level, he or she may learn his or her level-up spell from that or any other "allowed" levels. Dust-Upon-Leaf may not undergo this training more than once every two levels.
Dust-Upon-Leaf gain an additional 2d4 languages at the start of the game as well (having undergone extra training to boost their worth as translators and assistants to dignitaries.) In addition, they gain a -3 bonus to THAC0 and a +2 to damage when using any short blade. They also gain a 15% chance to move silently, hide in shadows, and spot a spy/undercover agent that rises 5% per level attained.
Further Notes:
If you're a player, it's always a good idea to talk with your Dungeon Master or Referee before trying to introduce a character using classes from outside his or her normal sphere into the game.
